Bryce Martin-Grud Desma 9 5/27/22 Space + Art      Throughout the years I've always been fascinated by space. This week I got to take a deeper look into space itself and the art behind it. I think that we all have a picture in our head what space looks like and how it is portrayed in pictures and even movies. I think that pictures and art both are influencers in the study of space.      An artist by the name of Richelle Gribble has been very influential in her works on space. Her message is "to respond to humanity's relationship to space"(Gribble). She explains through her work how we " A DNA strand symbolizes the origin of all life ghosting through a crowd of people constructing a DNA strand together, forming a ladder to the stars. This symbolizes how our humanity and collaborative capabilities take us to new heights." This just adds to how she is trying to bring the people together and shed on a light on our connection to space. ...

Bryce Martin-Grud Desma 9 5/18/22 Nanotechnology + Art     Nanotechnology also known as Nanotech, "is the use of matter on an atomic, molecular, and supramolecular scale for industrial purposes." This idea of Nanotech has quickly evolved and turned into an art, Nanoart. It is still a pretty new concept and one that the public cannot even see with their own eyes. An artist that has really elevated this idea of Nanoart comes by the name of Cris Orfescu. He has plenty of pieces of Nanoart and explains it be "a new art discipline at the art-science-technology intersections." He claims that there is nanolandscapes, "which are molecular and atomic landscapes which are natural structures of matter at molecular and atomic scales." There is also nanosculptures, "which are structures created by scientists and artists by manipulating matter at molecular and atomic scales using chemical and physical processes". Bryce Martin-Grud Desma 9 5/12/2022 Neuroscience + Art     Neuroscience, "is the study of how the nervous system develops, it's structure, and what it does." Neuroscience has developed though the years and now we have the ability to actually go inside our brains and control certain areas and muscles. This new technology is able to fly into the anatomy of somebody's brain neurologically and non invasively.      This new technology allows for people to get into someones mind using MRI, and see what is going on in the brain when doing different movements or experiencing different emotions such as pain. If people are able to see the pattern in which their brain is moving and working while they are doing these actions, they will have the ability to control it.             Chronic pain is an example of this.  Bryce Martin-Grud 5/6/2022 DESMA 9 BioTech + Art     The idea of BioArt is often times a pretty controversial topic and practice. The idea that people are creating art with living organisms while using scientific processes such as biotechnology is an idea that some people cannot wrap their head around. This practice is used to shed light on " societal, philosophical, and environmental issues and can help enhance public understanding of advances in biotechnology and genetic engineering ,"as stated by Ahmet F.      Researchers and these scientific artists have to defend their work due to the  criticism of people saying that their work is animal cruelty. There are two sides to the story but in my eyes if they are not injuring or affecting the animal in anyway then I don't believe that there is a problem with this newly transformed art.
