Week 1 Blog Assignment

As a freshmen coming into UCLA I was very nervous. I didn't know what to expect. I play baseball as well and have had the lucky privilege to come here and continue my athletic career as well as get an amazing education.

I believe that is the main idea that makes me nervous, just being forced to learn how to manage it all and get everything done on time. I think that coming in here and seeing the students who do not play sports it's a lot different than the kids who do. I feel like some of the normal students think that we get everything handed to us and its just really not the case at all. We have to really work hard and the grind never stops. They think that we get so much help academically which we is not wrong but at the same time the same help we get is offered to the normal students if they were to just reach out to the peer learning service. I just think that students and students athletes do their own thing most of the time.

They mainly hangout with each other and theres just not as much connection between the two as there should be to just bring the school together. I believe that going to a school where you know the students are behind you and support your team and you as a player it feels amazing.

I feel like if you were go to ask any student athlete, if you show your support for your school, the athlete is going to preform better.

  1. I definitely agree with you that support for student athletes is very important in their success. There's nothing like having hundreds or thousands of people having your back and supporting you. We see this in literally all of the professional sports where playing at your home stadium makes teams perform significantly better. Teams playing at home always play a big factor when predicting the winner of a game.
