Mathematics Influence On Art And Science

In research that I have done this week I've noticed that mathematics has really influenced art and science throughout the years. I think that the main takeaways I had was the symmetry that is in the art and how it comes from math. For example, when people draw sketches or portraits of you they are trying to make your face symmetrical and by doing that have to use math. Also I learned that math has been used in art and sculpture all the way back to 5th century BCE.

Not only is math involved with art but it also is a key component of science. In further research I learned that math is very similar to science in the way that mathematics works to solve equations and problems as the same for science. There are closely related and used within each other.

  1. I agree that both art and science both have math playing a significant role in them. In science basically everything that occurs needs mathematics in order to function. As you mentioned math also has a big role in art whether it is for symmetry , ratios , or for big art models. Art and science both are definitely similar in this matter.

  2. I also never realized how much math is used in art. I not a particularly artsy person, but I have taken a couple art classes and I never realized that I was unconsciously using math. In my art experience of drawing portraits, I never once thought of using math but I was using it.
