Mechanization and Art


    Throughout this weeks lectures I've learned a lot more than I previously knew about mechanization and its effects on art. To start, mechanization is the "introduction of machines or automatic devices into a process, activity, or place." In the United States, mechanization paved the way for the future of production and many other things such as art. The Industrial Revolution was a big step in the advancement of mechanization. This allowed for faster production and was a big help for these big industrial owners. Although there was an upside there was also some downfalls. For the average person, this step forward created a lot less job opportunities and left people out to dry.

    Moving into the art aspect of things. Mechanization has played a huge role in the development of art. If you think about it, the movies we watch everyday are from the advancements of mechanization. We don't even think twice about it and how each scene is almost an art piece.

    Overall I think that there is a lot of positives that the advancements of mechanization. There are also some negatives about it but I think it was a great step in our country's future.

    Hello, I really enjoyed your blog post. I really liked that you brought up the issue of people losing their jobs because of the mechanical advancements that have constantly been happening since the first industrial revolution. The more that mechanics have advanced, the more that people’s jobs have become fully automatic, meaning that they lost their jobs. While this is one of the bad things that have happened because of technological and mechanical advances, there have also been great things that have happened because of these advances. Movies are one of the great things that have happened because of these advances. Movies are a large part of a lot of people's lives like mine, and I do not know what I would do without movies. They have been a large part of my life and are something that a lot of people use to not only teach life lessons but also teach people about different things that we do not learn about in schools in the United States of America.

    Hey, I thought the social issue of people losing their jobs due to technological advances was very interesting because it brings our two schools of thought. One that we all eventually will lose most jobs due to technology that can be good or bad but either was it will eventually happen. I think the art around tech is very fascinating and I think you had great examples when you used movies as a reality piece of art since we don't think twice.

Bryce Martin-Grud Desma 9 3/30/22 Week 1 Blog Assignment      As a freshmen coming into UCLA I was very nervous. I didn't know what to expect. I play baseball as well and have had the lucky privilege to come here and continue my athletic career as well as get an amazing education.      I believe that is the main idea that makes me nervous, just being forced to learn how to manage it all and get everything done on time. WEEK 6 Blog BIOTECH + ART

 Bryce Martin-Grud 5/6/2022 DESMA 9 BioTech + Art     The idea of BioArt is often times a pretty controversial topic and practice. The idea that people are creating art with living organisms while using scientific processes such as biotechnology is an idea that some people cannot wrap their head around. This practice is used to shed light on " societal, philosophical, and environmental issues and can help enhance public understanding of advances in biotechnology and genetic engineering ,"as stated by Ahmet F.      Researchers and these scientific artists have to defend their work due to the  criticism of people saying that their work is animal cruelty. There are two sides to the story but in my eyes if they are not injuring or affecting the animal in anyway then I don't believe that there is a problem with this newly transformed art. Bryce Martin-Grud Desma 9 5/27/22 Space + Art      Throughout the years I've always been fascinated by space. This week I got to take a deeper look into space itself and the art behind it. I think that we all have a picture in our head what space looks like and how it is portrayed in pictures and even movies. I think that pictures and art both are influencers in the study of space.      An artist by the name of Richelle Gribble has been very influential in her works on space. Her message is "to respond to humanity's relationship to space"(Gribble). She explains through her work how we " A DNA strand symbolizes the origin of all life ghosting through a crowd of people constructing a DNA strand together, forming a ladder to the stars. This symbolizes how our humanity and collaborative capabilities take us to new heights." This just adds to how she is trying to bring the people together and shed on a light on our connection to space. ...
